Dr. Jeffrey C. Pitts

For more than four decades, Dr. Jeffrey C. Pitts has been a trusted ophthalmologist in Ontario, Oregon—known not only for his clinical expertise but for the genuine care he brings to every patient he meets. Originally from Syracuse, New York, he began his academic journey at Johns Hopkins University and went on to complete medical school and dual residencies in Internal Medicine and Ophthalmology at SUNY Buffalo.

When Dr. Pitts moved to Ontario in 1983, he set down roots that would shape the region’s eye‑care landscape. He opened his own general ophthalmology practice and joined the staff at Holy Rosary Hospital, now St. Alphonsus Hospital, Ontario. In 1996, he built the Ontario Surgery Center, the first outpatient ambulatory surgery center in the Treasure Valley, reflecting his commitment to innovation and patient‑centered care.

Beyond medicine, Dr. Pitts has a lifelong passion for aviation. With instrument and multiengine ratings and more than 2,450 hours as pilot in command, flying has been a constant source of joy. His service as a Flight Surgeon with the Air National Guard in Boise in the 1980s remains one of his proudest chapters. He likes to say that flying is “an incurable disease”.
